The African tradition recognises honesty, hard work and generousity as part of the ingredients that make for a better individual and for a collectively better society as well and it is in this light that the Uvwie kingdom of Delta State decided to honour one of its adopted sons with a chieftaincy title.

The man is no other than Ndidi Joel Aminu, whose ancestry is in Ihogbe quarters of Agbor-Obi in Ika South local government area of Delta State. He was born on the 17th of July 1970 into the family of Mr. Stephen Aminu, but moved into the Uvwie kingdom as a young boy after finishing from the Gbenoba Grammar school and made Uvwie kingdom his adopted home and place of abode. He got a job with Chevron Nigeria Limited, an oil and gas production company after spending some years as a spare parts salesman, but in-between also obtained his bachelor of science degree in Political Science from the Delta State University Abraka and this is where he worked for over twenty years until he resigned about two years ago a fulfilled man. He then become a distributor for the Dangote brands of products and that is what he is presently doing as a full time businessman. Chief Aminu is an elder at his church and also an active member of different social clubs.

So, it was a day of glamorous celebration and one that brought two different cultures together as the King of the Uvwie kingdom, Dr. Emmanuel Sideso found it worthy to confer the title of Uvwiefome on Ndidi Joel Aminu among other titles conferred on worthy individuals on Saturday the 18th of June 2022. The ceremony took place at the king’s palace and it was in recognition of Ndidi Aminu’s numerous contributions to the Uvwie kingdom and the general society at large. Uvwiefome which means ‘the land of Uvwie is blessed and is good to me’ is the special title bestowed on the newly honoured Chief Ndidi Aminu because of his many contributions to the development of the kingdom.

The elated Chief Aminu after the conferment stated that he feels honoured and privileged to be selected as a recepient of the title as he added that by this honour, he is spurred to continue to give back to the society.

The reception which took place at Effurun saw the gathering of the who-is-who within and around Uvwie kingdom as well and as far as Agbor kingdom to celebrate the much admired Chief Ndidi Aminu and it was a large reception with all the pomp and pageantry that was organised to celebrate the occasion.8
