The perrenial traffic lockjam with its attendant problems of loss of man hours and the overall negative economic impact on the society with a particular emphasis on the Ports access roads within the Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports areas a few years ago, necessitated the collaboration between the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Trucks Transit Parks Limited (TTP). This collaboration also gave rise to the introduction of the ETO traffic management software application by the TTP.

The TTP is the developer of the ETO (A Yoruba word meaning ‘to arrange or order’) software application and the company this morning celebrated its two years of operation.

The Transit Parks Ltd (TTP) has over the past two years proven to be a leading mobility technology company and as the event of its second anniversary is marked, key milestones in the efficient movement of trucks in and out of Lagos ports were highlighted. TTP has seemingly made a profound impact on the logistics and transportation industry, delivering innovative solutions that streamline the cargo movement process, reduce congestion, and improve the overall efficiency of port operations.

Richard Emeni addressing the press.

The managing director of the company, Mr. Jama Onwuabuariri in a presentation via Skype recalled that it used to take between two to three hours some years back to move in from the Island and some parts of the Mainland, but that the ETO has been able through its proper traffic management solution to drastically reduce the movement time to less than thirty minutes. He noted that the initial opposition to the platform came about as a result of people who wanted to corruptly benefit from the arrangement but that their capabilities as professionals coupled with the smart innovations and religious application of principles have seen them weathering the storm and waxing stronger over time.

According to the company’s head of corporate development, Richard Emeni “TTP’s flagship product ETO has been variously credited with successfully reducing the traffic around the port corridors, resulting in a significant improvement in the average turnaround time for port-bound trucks from an average of 2 weeks to just 3 days. The company’s technology has also contributed significantly to a massive reduction in the cost of moving cargo by 65%, providing significant cost savings to businesses and improving the competitiveness of the Nigerian economy. It has also in this period, digitally managed the movement of over 1,165,000 port and non-port-bound trucks”.

“We are proud to mark this milestone, and to see the positive impact that our technology has had on the industry,” said Mr Jama Onwubuariri, the MD & Co-founder of TTP. “Our commitment to delivering innovative solutions has allowed us to revolutionize the way that cargo is transported in and out of Lagos ports, and we are confident that our continued growth and success will bring even greater benefits to the industry in the years to come.”

The TTP also has a truck hailing software application called the ‘Tafidah’ which gives one the opportunity to access trucks online at competitive rates and at more efficient ways.

The Nigerian Ports Authority, the senior partner in the arrangement to have the Ports access roads cleared of all encumbrances seems to be happy with the performance of the TTP as the company has seemingly established itself as a leader in the mobility technology sector. TTP has also over time received widespread recognition for its innovative solutions and impactful results. As the company marks its two years anniversary and looks ahead to the future, it should remain focused on delivering cutting-edge technology and excellent service delivery and be more committed to improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the Nigerian economy.
