The need for a special team to help members in tackling a lot of their genuine problems as they try to do their legitimate businesses in and around the various units under the Tin Can Island chapter has necessitated the inauguration of a task force. This and more were the reasons given by the chairman of the Tin Can Island chapter of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Mr. Ojo Peter Akintoye (OPA). Mr. Akintoye was speaking after the inauguration of the chapter’s task force at the meeting held within the chapter’s secretariat premises on Tuesday.

He said that one of their jobs is to make sure that Clearing Agents do not get intimidated by government agencies, shipping companies or terminal operators and also to make sure that there is cordial relationship among all players.
Earlier a thirty nine man task force was inaugurated with James Imoudu as the chapter coordinator with Okon Edwin and Rasheed Jimoh as part of the members who will oversee the activities of the task force. The members took an oath of office as administered by the chairman Mr. Akintoye with strict advise from senior members of the association to strictly obey their job descriptions and desist from acting inappropriately or with impunity. The chairman also advised the task force members not to be the problem, but the problems solvers.

In the meeting were the coordinator of the western zone, Mr. Femi Anifowoshe, the coordinator of the ANLCA 100% Compliance Committee, Mr. Lameen Aliyu, a board of trustees member, Mr. Eniola Igbaroola, the chapter secretary, Nzeribe Ebere, treasurer Rasheed Oshinowo, the chapter’s public relations officer, Onome Monije as well as an invited guest from another association, Mr. Godfrey Emeka Nwosu. All gave brief words of encouragement as well as words of admonishment to guide the members of the interventionist team aptly called the task force in order to set them to render their services with the utmost commitment and spirit of brotherliness.
