By Dili Utomi.

The Nigerian Ports Authority with its newly introduced NPA call up system that uses the eto application for its operations has been cautioned to make the system more assessible to truck owners, this is a message from the Mr. Sani Abubakar, the managing director of Danmaigari radda trading company Limited. Mr. Abubakar who is also the chairman of the National Association of Road Transport Owners, Berger Suya branch appealed to truckers to try and understand the workings of the system and to follow it in order that there will be sanity within the system and that everyone in the society will benefit from it.
He advised that we all give the call up system enough time to work in order that we all see the effect noting that the NPA should not use the size and capacity of the garage as yardstick to measure the ability of each garage to be incorporated into the system. Mr. Abubakar asked the NPA to be more transparent in the deployment of the system as it is a very good way of decongesting the roads and creating orderliness within and around the port areas.

“The implementation of the system should be done with all honesty and and if one has all the proper documentation, such a person should be allowed to move in and pick up the cargo from the ports for movement to their destinations” he advised. On the issue of the allegation that the call up system is only effective for the evacuation of containers from the ports and not for the movement of empty containers into the ports because of lack of space at the terminals , the chairman said that he has not experienced such but wishes to say that the NPA should work hard to make success out of this system.
