The Tin can Island Chapter Chairman of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Emeka Paul Chiedozie has made a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to always remember to recognise the presence of Freight Forwarders at any maritime event.

The NAGAFF Chieftain who spoke through his Chapter’s Public Relations Secretary FWDR. Mustapha Aboki to some journalists in Apapa Lagos shortly after the successful completion of this year’s international maritime day equally noted that the organisers of the event totally ignored some of the critical stakeholders who have been generating billions of dollars through the Nigeria Customs Service ( NCS) to the government.

“I will assume that it must have been an oversight on the part of the organisers, the Nigerian Importers who are using their money to import lots of cargoes into the country were not recognised, it means that the government is just after the collection of money through the Treasury Single Account and ignoring some of the most important personalities who work round the clock in generating funds and also facilitating trade.”

” If the FG can recognise the presence of Dockworkers, Ship Owners, Terminal Operators, l see no reason why Frieght Forwarders and shippers should not be part of the international Maritime Day celebration”.

“We are part of the logistics operators in the cargo supply chain. Frieght Forwarders are also the duty collectors and as such should be encouraged.
All the relevant agencies operating within the maritime space should stop relegating the Frieght Forwarders to the back seat at any function”. He concluded.
