The CGC strike force led by the good natured, but firm DC Shuaibu A.M. in a continuous onslaught against economic saboteurs and renewed vigor has seized four (4) containers loaded with unprocessed wood for defying the extant export prohibition list. Among other seized items are; 550 cartons of foot-wears, 343 rolls of synthetic grass cover and 1,550 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, with a cumulative Duty Paid Value of N664,563,200.00.

Within the period of January-June 2021, a total of 86 seizures were made, these were found to have contravened different sections of the Customs and excise extant laws. The goods are worth the sum of N1,649,460,846.00 in Duty Paid Value (DPV).

Sequel to meticulous documentary checks, the ICT component of the Team recovered the sum of N1,895,593,861 from demand notices raised within the period under review. (January-June).

Considering the socio-economic, security and health effects on the national economy; importers/exporters and traders are advised to be committed to the
well-being of the nation’s economy by complying with the federal government’s extant laws and policies, aimed at reviving the moribund industries and to sustain
the existing ones.
