The ANLCA secretariat today.
Story by Dili Utomi.
There was a seeming air of complete calm and heavenly peace as you approach the Dikko Inde secretariat of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), but moving into the compound reveals a totally different picture that presents contrary sights on what really happened on the fateful day of the 16th of February 2022.
The President of ANLCA, Hon. Iju Tony Nwabunike flanked by his lieutenants.
It will be recalled that on that day, a group of persons mainly loyal to the former board of trustees (BOT) of the association accompanied by a detachment of police officers from the Area E police command of the Nigeria Police Force, Festac Lagos and many unknown persons stormed the secretariat and caused extensive damages to the property within the compound as well as causing physical and psychological damages to the workers at the secretariat.
A collection of pictures hung on the wall with some notable ones missing.
A cursory look at the vehicles packed within the compound shows that at least 4 of the vehicles have all their tyres deeply cut with sharp objects with 2 more having their batteries stolen.
Moving into the building, one observes that all the framed 16inch by 20inch pictures still present in the building were hanging rather askew with those pictures of the national president, his vice president and the secretary as well as the pictures of those not sympathetic to their cause all taken away by the those who stormed the secretariat on the day.
A door with the glass broken.
It was also observed that in some of the offices, glass doors were completely shattered, a lap top computer was stolen and a 52 inch flat screen television was smashed in the extension office of the president.
The biggest of the damage done to the properties may yet be unseen or unknown as a lot of the damages done to the office were recorded in the secretary’s office. A lot of important documents were stashed away from the secretary’s office and as the secretary says, it may take some time before the value of the total losses is realised.
