CGC Strike force Zone A makes seizures, arrests suspects.
The CGC Strike force of the Nigeria Custom Service has over the past five weeks intercepted smugglers around the zone while they were on their illegal activities and have dealt a big blow to their nefarious trade by seizing large amounts of goods from them.
This was revealed by the coordinator of the Strike force in the zone, DC Ahmadu Bello Shuaib while addressing journalists at their base in Ikeja, DC Shuaib appealed for the constant cooperation from the Media in sensitizing the public in the importance of complying to the rules of legitimate trade and also the disadvantage of illegal trade.
He further revealed that a total of 1185 bags of 50kg rice, 2147 cartons of cosmetics, 1320 bales of textile materials, 1956 cartons of shoes, 1 saloon car were seized as well as the 3 suspects who were arrested over the period. He put the duty paid value of the seized items at Four Hundred and Seven Million, Two Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand, Two Hundred and Forty Seven Naira (#417,228,247.00) only.
