APFFLON Inaugurates Chapters, Berates Gov’t Agencies.

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics (APFFLON) in continuation of its desire to bring about the smooth and cohesive running of the affairs of the Association has inaugurated the executive members of four different chapters within the Lagos area. In a well attended event at the Secretariat of the Association in Ikeja, Lagos, the President of the Association, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite urged the sworn in executive members to transform the quality leadership potentials that endeared them to members into remarkable legacies that will be emulated by all.
In his words “This is a special and historical day in the history of APFFLON”. He continued by saying that “Letters have been sent to the Inspector General of Police over anomalies of security agents as well as that of other Government agencies”.

Otunba Ogunojemite said that there are lots of issues with the issuance of alerts at the Ports and that he has a lot of information on the subject.

“The present IG is the one that unveiled APFFLON when he was the AIG Maritime in Kam Salem and we have put a letter across to him on some issues.

He also added that in terms of the Customs and the FOU Task Force causing issues on the roads, that APFFLON was part of the advocacy that said they don’t need to come close to the Ports because that shows that they don’t trust themselves.

He went down memory lane and spoke about the various achievements of the Association especially in the area of forcing regulators to drop various anti-business policies and also the welfare packages that members enjoy which include health insurance scheme and the regular insurance scheme. He also said that the Association has been registered in South Africa and that the registration of the Association in Ethiopia is presently ongoing.

The President named the inaugurated chapters as Apapa, Tin Can, Ikorodu/Ibeshe and PTML while the Airport chapters are being restructured. Apapa executive members include : Chairman, Ibrahim Baba, Vice chairman Martin Adimonye, Secretary Patrick Ozah, Ass. Sec. Nkem Osadebe, Fin. Sec. Olabode Kekere-Ekun, PRO Emmanuel Nwaolise, Treasurer Lucky Stephen Nwaolise, OC Intelligence Peter Akinde, Operations Henry Obodoeke, OC Intelligence 2 IfeanyI Ibeh, Operations 2 Sunday Oguntuase.

Tin Can Island chapter executive members include Chairman Godfrey Chiemeka Nwosu, Vice chairman Prince Ayeni Adekunle, Secretary Rose Orumor, Ass. Sec. Ikechukwu Umelo, PRO Abuchi Asuzu, Fin. Sec. Rabiu Taoheed, others are Ishmael Chukwunyere, Kevin Nwaogu and Victor Adeh.

MMIA Chapter executive members are: Ibeh Martin- Coordinator, Ganiyu Kolawole- Asst. Coordinator, Tunde Salam- Secretary, Shola Adeluyi- P.R.O

The newly appointed national executive members of the Association include, Chief Bartholomew Onuoha- Vice President, Barr. Coliseum Balogun, Esq.- Asst. General Secretary, Barr. Adeniyi Adebowale, Esq.- Fin. Secretary, Oloruntosin Otuyiga, Esq.- Treasurer, Patricia Agboje- Head of Business Development and Investment, El-Sabyl Mavis Ogheneovie- Welfare Officer

The various chapter chairmen spoke with newsmen at the end of the ceremony and express their intentions to work with all members within their units to make the Association grow from its current infancy to a giant that everyone will reckon with in the industry. They also express the desire to reach out to other Associations within the industry in other that the goal of APFFLON of fighting for the interest of all stakeholders in the industry may be realised.
